New Found Habit

I've been having trouble sleeping for a while and it was driving me crazy.
My problem isn't falling asleep, it's staying asleep (like the commercial).
About a week ago I came down with a cold and my husband made me some lemon tea before going to bed. I slept like a baby!!!
The next day I went and bought a fruit tea sampler and I now have a new
night habit.....and lot more sleep.

I was reading an article the other day about how a lot of people are now rethinking and saying no to the holiday card tradition. Then a few days later I went to pick up our mail and there were a few Christmas cards for the previous owners of our house...we've been here TWO years.
I thought yes, Christmas cards could be impersonal, somehow wasteful, and we are all trying to be green and frugal right?

But then I saw these gorgeous cards. Needless to say, I'm sticking with the tradition.

My Mimosi is a huge fan of Good Night Moon and when I found this "petrifying parody" I had to get it for him. It is hilarious!! The illustrations are awesome, not too scary for the little ones. I hope it becomes his favorite bed time story during halloween.

The Bellagio had just opened the fall exhibition and we went to see it. It was gorgeous!!!! Looking at such cute gardens makes me want to be a horticulturist.

Oso and I went on a middle of the week getaway to Vegas. Our camera is a little big to carry around so I just took some picture with our phones.

We stayed at the MGM Grand which was pretty nice. We spent half of the first day at the pool.

These books are totally adorable. Little pea has to eat every piece of candy at dinner before he can have his favorite dessert in the world, spinach!

Little Hoot hates bedtime because he wants to go to bed early like all his friends but Papa says little owls have to stay up late and play.

Little Oink only wants to clean, clean, clean, but Mama and Papa say he has to learn to make a proper mess. Like a real pig.

Needless to say, if you have a birthday party o a baby shower coming up pick up a copy and say that Aunt Carolina recommended it.

I love red door houses. They are so welcoming. In feng shui the front door is called "the mouth of Chi", and a good feng shui door will attract the highest energy to nourish the house. Feng shui or not I just like them...next time we buy a house I'll make sure it has a pretty red door or that at least we have the option to replace it. I already have some ideas.

Oso's Birthday

This weekend was all about Oso and his birthday. He had breakfast in bed and we went to see Transformers in the afternoon (per his request)

On saturday we had a little party. We only snapped a few pictures. Here is Oso with his nieces and nephews. Aren't they cute?

I finally sat down to post some pictures of Danny's birthday party. My sister and I had lots of fun planning it.

Since Danny is so into cars we decided not to do a regular birthday cake. We used a Williams Sonoma's cake mold for the cars.

We had mini turkey burgers, dips and chips, and fruit kabobs.

and we made little labels with the kid's names so each one had his/her own sippy cup.

The fruit kabobs were a total hit!!!!

Oso and I went to Moab last weekend. The original plan was to camp Friday and Saturday and then come home Sunday. Well, turns out we can't stand camping for more than one night anymore. This came as a shocker because we used to LOVE camping, we do it every summer, it was our thing!!! We both hated the first night in our little two people tent. As the second day went by, we were dreading a second night in the little tend, not to mention going to bed sweaty, dirty and covered in sand. We ended up checking in at Motel 6 (it wasn't that bad actually) and watching The Dark Night on HBO. Sunday morning we came home. A few pics:

On our latest trip to Barnes and Noble I came across these two books by Bobbi Brown. Makeup Manual if full of tips and ideas, from how to pick brushes to "bad day" makeup. I actually want to buy it.

The second book I found was Living Beauty . The target audience of this book is actually older women but I found a lot of words of wisdom (that's actually the name of a chapter) and inspiration. I love that Bobbi Brown is all about aging gracefully.

Five years ago today Oso and I went out for the first time. We went to see the premiere of Kill Bill Volume 2 and we've been together ever since. I've been using this perfume since it came out in 2007. By December 2008 the whole bottle was gone and I've been "perfume-less" since. The search for a new scent has not been an easy task. The other day at the mall I came across my old perfume again. Once sniff brought me very good memories (buying our house, Mimitos birth, our wedding)so I decided to make "The One" my signature scent. I purchased bottle #2.

Remember Annie??? We couldn't adopt her because our house is not big enough for two dogs. After we finished fostering she was going to be taken to the "No More Homeless Pets" kennel (if she wasn't adopted first). We know this because they have a NO kill policy. I once read somewhere (probably shape mag)that if you go veggie once a week you'll protect your heart and lower your risk of cancer. As a bonus, you will be cutting some calories. I think I'm gonna try that this week. Here are some of my options:

1. BREAKFAST: Veggie Burrito (not sure about beans for breakfast)

or Puffed Pancake with Cardamom-Fruit Salad

uhmmm too fancy. I'll stick with special K cereal.

2. LUNCH: a. Classic Veggie Sandwich. I would add some hummus and trow some baby carrots on the side

b. Veggie Pita pocket

c. This one is called Healthy Californian...looks good

3. DINNER: A veggie soup sounds great.
